| First you may ask, “what is this guy still doing here and will it take me that long?” In a word, Kancalinoissachusetts – that about sums it up. Born in Kansas, I spent the better part of my childhood in the kid friendliest suburb outside of Chicago. After getting a B.S. from UIUC, I joined the work force and after a year, I thought better of it and headed west to find gold. Instead, I got an M.S. from Berkeley and worked yet again, just longer this time. Rinse. Repeat.
My name is Fred Chen, this is my first time blogging and yes, I’m a professional student. Now at MIT, I’m in my third rinse cycle and in my third year of graduate studies here. I work for Professors Vladimir Stojanovic and Anantha Chandrakasan and officially, I’m developing circuits to characterize carbon nanotubes and evaluate their potential impact on VLSI applications. Unofficially, I tend to dabble anywhere there are circuits involved. When I’m not “focused” on school, I enjoy going to concerts and playing pretty much any sport from snowboarding to soccer. I know, not a lot of sports between ‘sno’ and ‘soc’ but you get the point. Other things that I enjoy but am terrible at: playing guitar, photography, cooking, acting, writing, and graduating. |
