"Learning to Sail"
[posted by jwu on 2008-06-22 15:21:30]

My name is Grace Woo. Although I am a first year graduate student in the EECS program, I previously spent 2 years at the MIT Media Lab. Currently, I work in NMS CSAIL with Professor Dina Katabi. My research problem is looking at practical multimedia coding techniques over wireless network scenarios. Like many worthwhile research projects one might find at MIT, this particular problem lies at the intersection of signal processing, communications theory, vision, and computer systems. Prior to graduate school, I spent 3 great years at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.

When I’m not on campus, I may be found in my cozy corner of a shared East Cambridge apartment. In that 50 square-foot space lives a 88-key keyboard, a loftbed, a desk, a computer and me. In the early hours of the morning (or the late hours of the night), I can be found reading, guzzling coffee, monitoring the condition of the Internet or being unabashedly cacophonous. Independent of location, I am still an avid follower of Illini sports and Illinois politicians (2008).
