Unlike most of the other bloggers on this site, I have just arrived at MIT, and I don’t plan to stay for very long. I am a 1st year Fellow in the Leaders for Global Operations (LGO) program at MIT, which means I will receive a M.S. from EECS and an MBA from the Sloan School of Management in just two years.
I am generally interested in information and decision systems, and specifically interested in developing probabilistic models of systems in order to aid modeling and simulation. Recently, I have done research in the area of airspace safety, working in the Surveillance Systems group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Before that, I researched the application of decision systems to the care of patients with chronic disease such as diabetes and hypertension in a small startup. Before that, I graduated from Harvard in 2004, with a degree in Applied Math.
As an LGO fellow, I hope to research how AI, machine learning, and applied probability techniques can improve efficiency and lower risk in manufacturing and/or supply chain operations, and specifically how to effectively lead groups developing those systems within larger organizations.
When I am not in school (which barely ever happens now!) I try watch or get to get to as many Red Sox and Celtics games as I can. I am also a big fan of bad 80’s action movies, and one of my secret goals for coming to MIT is to work on the first prototype Terminator, or at least Skynet v1.0.
