Hi! I’m Laura Waller, and welcome to my blog, where I’ll tell all my deepest and darkest secrets, and maybe a little about MIT, too.
Having arrived here 7.573 years ago, fresh off the bus from Canada, I’ve spent nearly a third of my life at MIT, and every day is a new adventure.
I still have the list that I made as a freshman, “Things to do Before I Graduate”. Most of it is crossed off now (run a marathon, build a robot, eat sushi), there are a few things I’m still working on (Nobel prize, visit every T stop), but the amazing part of that list are all the great things that I’ve been able to do, that I never would have thought to put on there. I’ve spent a year abroad, studied several languages (German, C++), and made my daytime TV debut. I get to work in an exciting optics lab, where I learn new things every day.
In my ’spare’ time, I play D-level IM sports, trounce my housemate in Sudoku races, and drive into the mountains for skiing adventures. I love riddles, politics, OCD cleaning, and anything that involves travel. Oh, and my favourite holiday is April Fool’s Day, so consider yourself warned.
